Altered Hangers

In the last issue of Somerset LIFE, I became very inspired with an article written by Jill Plumley. She had altered some wooden hangers to appear vintage. Because I needed another project to start (Ha! Ha!), here is my first attempt on altering some store bought hangers. I am excited about making some larger ones with more rubberstamp art and possibly some old-fashioned photos.

Is this one yours? Lovely. Also Nancy, love the new banner at the top! You never cease to amaze me. I hope you show us all the hangers after your done. So these were not the wallmart ones? these are from a dollar store?

The featured hanger was purchased from Wal-Mart. On Sunday I went to the dollar store and bought the larger curved-at-the top ones, which so far are easier to prepare for artwork. I can't wait to show you when we meet again. I am painting them kind of shabby chic colors, but haven't decided on the rubberstamps to use, maybe some more swirls with birds.

I actually painted this hanger, then repainted it again. I felt like it was a little too pink. Once you start with them, they become incredibly addictive. I want to also put some cool vintage women on some of them.
