Colorful Autumn Afghan

As the weather begins to cool, I look ahead to fall by showing you this latest afghan knitted in autumnal colors. I started this afghan about a year ago. It has taken me quite a while, but I love the results.

One of the most challenging phases of this project was sewing the panels together. For some reason, I am never quite able to get the seams as flat as I hope to.

This is a very warm afghan, and is perfect to snuggle under. As a matter of fact, lately my favorite place to start another pair of socks is in bed at night while watching TV.

This free pattern is available by creating an account through Lion Brand Yarn Co. It was the latest featured item in their last newsletter. "Amazing" yarn (one of my favorites) was used with a selected few colors of "Jiffy" yarn.

I am lovin' it!!

Who is the lady with your afghan? Yours looks like the picture. Is it your daughter-in-law? It looks nice an warm, and very fall. Fall is my favorite season.

Hi Deb, Actually, the photo was from the Lion Brand Yarn catalog cover. Although, she DOES resemble my daughter-in-law somewhat. It was definitely worth the effort, and is such a soft afghan. Thanks for dropping by. I decided it was about time I got back to blogging! Hugs, Nance

Fabulous afghan! I made a scarf out of the Amazing for a gift and it was very well received. I imagine it's even more cuddly as a blanket!

Thanks, everyone for your sweet comments. Can't wait to make more things with Lion Brand's "Amazing" yarn. I have yet to post a baby blanket I made earlier this spring. Hugs, Nan

OMG - I cannot believe you made this afghan - I have been lusting after this forever! Yours is absolutely beautiful - even more so that the original photo!

So tell me - did you follow the pattern just as it is written - use the same yarns and everything? I read the reviews of the pattern and was so confused~~

Now that I have seen yours - I am so making this!!

Hi Vicki, I did follow the pattern to a "T" using their color suggestions and their pattern. The panels were easy enough, just stockinette. The most challenging was assembling the panels according to their diagram. Then the whole afghan has a seed stitch border. I fell in love with the color combination as soon as I saw it too. You will enjoy the project as it knits up fast!! Ordered my yarn online through Joann's after reviewing the pattern to save some $$ rather than ordering from Lion Brand Yarn. Thanks for your lovely comments. :)
